Royal Design Microsite

Project Goals

One of the challenges of managing a large team is keeping a lively pulse throughout the organization. I envisioned creating a site for our Royal Design Team which achieved several goals including:

  • Keeping team members updated with the latest design decisions

  • Providing a platform where team members could document their thoughts and case studies

  • Having a place to showcase prior or upcoming events and media

  • Using as a centralized source of truth for our design principles

  • Growing and nurturing our internal design culture

Now, that is a tall order, but when this project started it became obvious that our team wanted this and they were willing to contribute in any way they could.

Role

Visual Design and Creative Direction

Initial concepts included a design based on our guest app experience

Solution

In the end, we internally published a portal that met my goals for the team. I went with a dark theme that made the content shine and beautiful typography to emphasize the message. This microsite also proved to be instrumental in attracting talent as I continuously brought it up to highlight our team culture and what we were all about.

In the future, I envision having a public version so our team can publish content that helps the rest of the design community, highlights solutions to our biggest challenges and overall elevates the team as experts in our small Miami design community.
